Father Stuckey has been at St. James’ since the
fall of 1989 and Rector since June 1990. He was trained as a
musician and worked in the Music Section of the Copyright Office,
the Library of Congress for many years. After graduation from
Virginia Seminary in 1976 he began his ordained ministry in
Arkansas, coming to the Diocese of West Missouri in 1986.
In West Missouri Father Stuckey has served on
the Commission of Ministry; the Standing Committee, including one
year as president; and the Transition Committee, where he served as
Chair of the Search Committee leading to the election to the
episcopate of the present bishop. He currently serves on the
Congregational Development Committee, Urban & Suburban Context; as
the Ecumenical Officer for the diocese, the Chair of Missouri
Churches Uniting in Christ (MoCUIC); and a member of the board of
Missouri School of Religion (MSR).
He enjoys his family, his wife, Paula, and
three children and seven grandchildren. He is an avid birder, loves
to read, follows a number of sports, and has a great interest in
Russia and things Russian. A recent sabbatical of five months was
spent in St. Petersburg, Russia, studying Russian and the Russian
Orthodox Church.
